Phnom Penh, July 9, 2024 – The Philippines has expressed its readiness to cooperate with Cambodia in establishing a Joint High-Level Combat Committee to address shared concerns, including cybercrime, online fraud, and human trafficking.

During a courtesy call and discussion with Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on July 8, 2024, Ambassador Flerida Ann Camille P. Mayo conveyed the Philippines' commitment to this collaborative effort. She also thanked the Cambodian government for its support and protection of Filipinos living and working in Cambodia without discrimination.

Ambassador Mayo emphasized her commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, investment, education, health, and military relations during her diplomatic mission in Cambodia. She noted that Filipino companies are currently active in Cambodia's health, education, and food processing industries. Additionally, Philippine investors are seeking opportunities and partners to invest further in sectors such as construction, food and beverage, manufacturing, retail, and education.

The Ambassador expressed satisfaction with the strong and growing relations between Cambodia and the Philippines, highlighted by multiple high-level meetings between leaders of the two countries, including meetings between Hun Sen and Philippine President Marcos in 2022, and subsequent meetings in 2023 in Jakarta and 2024 in Melbourne.

She also mentioned that Cambodia and the Philippines have held four meetings of the Bilateral Cooperation Commission over the past 14 years. The Philippines will host this year's commission meeting in Manila to review and redefine action plans and priority areas for cooperation.
